ASSISTANT URBAN DESIGNER Planning Services £23,749 - £25,320 per annum plus cost of living rise (to be agreed) Fixed term contract, initially for 12 months Ref: ET0317

Swansea, the regional capital of South West Wales, has a unique natural setting defined by Swansea Bay, the Gower Peninsula and the River Tawe. The City and County of Swansea is undergoing radical improvement which will continue for many years. Crucial to this is the achievement of high quality sustainable design solutions in all aspects of the built environment ranging from major city centre developments to small building projects.

This post provides an excellent opportunity for an Urban Designer, Architect or similar design professional to contribute to and influence this process whilst gaining experience of a design advisory role within the Planning Applications Section of a busy Unitary Authority.You will work with the Council’s Principal Urban Designer drafting design guidance and advising planners, consultants, developers and applicants on achieving good design in the built environment. Ideally, you should have a recognised qualification in urban design and/or architecture and experience in local authority development control would be an advantage.
